Sophomore and defending 2015 State 6A champion Mia Tovkach shot a 37 to lead the Blazers golf effort at the Heritage Park Invitational last week.
The nine-hole event hosts all the Olathe, Blue Valley, Shawnee Mission and Lawrence schools. GEHS took first place out of 18 school events.
Besides Tovkach, Shae Stamps carded a 39, Hannah Trivitt, 42, seniors Alexis Bailey and Taylor Snell, 50.
“Everyone had a great scoring day,” said Coach Amy Van Rheen, “whose team had a low score of 168. These are the kind of scores we are looking for as the season closes in on the Regional tournament.”
At the Spring Hill Invitational Sept. 21, Snell carded a 52 and brought back a 15th place medal. Other participants were Alexis Bailey, 53, Stamps, 55, Taylor Hill, 58 and Haley Meyer, 66.
This week the JV and varsity will be involved in meets at Overland Park, Hidden Springs and Eagle Bend in Lawrence.
