Spring Hill’s Sarah Brown and Sierra Sanderson were recently named to the 4A All-State softball team.
Sanderson, a junior catcher, was the quarterback of the team and directed the defensive attack.
“She has a great arm and great bats,” said Coach Shelly Huber. “She was our leadoff hitter and set the offense.”
Brown, also a junior, dominated on the pitching mound with a 19-2 record on the season. She had an 0.89 ERA, struck out 185 batters in 150 innings and allowed just 33 runs all season.
She was 5-0 in post season lady Spring Hill to the 4A state title.
“She was so solid on the mound,” said Huber. “She stepped up big time when Mary Kate got hurt. She was unstoppable during the past season allowing just three runs in five post season games.”
Their efforts helped Spring Hill to a 21-3 record, and a 4A Regional and State title.
Spring Hill defeated Piper 1-0 in the state title game.
