The Gardner Lake Association has announced that final preparations are underway for the July 4 Boat Parade to be held on that Monday at 4 pm.  All participants are invited to line-up near the dam at 3:30 for the ever-popular annual event.  Each entry will be given a number to display on the starboard side of their boats. No preregistration is necessary, and the themes will be at the discretion of the skippers.
This year’s grand marshal is Leigh Allen’s Barbie Boat, which has been a beloved symbol of the parade for years. Her “Barbie Dolls” will be going dock-to-dock prior to the launch tossing patriotic beads containing a discrete text number. Spectators may then text the number of their favorite entry to the committee boat where the votes will be tabulated. Immediately upon the completion of the parade, the three top entries will be recognized.
For an interesting twist this year, the association will be awarding vintage trophies from the period of the construction of the lake itself; late 1930’s and early 1940’s.  Adorned with ribbons, they will be award from the committee boat at the north end of the lake.
