Summer has officially arrived: graduation is over; school is out; pools open this weekend and it’s time to mark your calendars for upcoming events.
Several events are upcoming in June.
Festival of the Trails
Gardner’s annual Festival of the Trails will be June 10-11 in downtown Gardner.
Music guests will include Diamond Rio; Travis Marvin; Andy Griggs, Shawn McNown, River Town and the Tracey Allison Duo.
Other activities will include a kids’ zone, face painting, chat-fest for seniors, car show, craft show, food vendors, a three on three hoops tourney and wagon rides.
June 11, wagon rides will be provided from the festival events to the Gardner Historical Museum beginning about noon. Events at the museum will include period re-enactors, Indian artifacts and demonstrations of pioneer and children’s crafts. There will be a pioneer campground with an Indian Teepee and Chief Standing Cloud. Music will be by “Odds and Ends.” Inside the museum will a trails exhibit.

Edgerton Frontier Days
Country star Joe Diffie will be the headline performer June 18, taking the stage about 11 p.m. Diffie will be preceded by Outlaw Jim and the Whiskey Benders at 7 p.m. and Branch and Dean at 9 p.m. All performances will be at the main stage downtown.
Other events during Frontier Days will be the annual parade at 10 a.m. , craft and food booths, chainsaw carving, face painting, an ice cream social, car bash, carnival and laser tag.

Gardner Municipal Airport Gathering of Eagles
The 21st annual Gathering of Eagles event will be held at the Gardner Municipal Airport on June 17-18 and will feature approximately 20 replica World War I aircraft.
Planes will be displayed and some will fly on the first day of the event. This event is free, but food vendors will not be available. Please contact an Airport Advisory Board member for more details.
Gardner Municipal Airport Vintage Fly In
The annual Greater Kansas City Area Vintage Fly-in takes place on June 24-25 at the Gardner Municipal Airport.
This event has become the largest vintage and antique airplane fly-in in the area. Attendees can expect food, activities, and items to purchase. For more information, please visit www.vaa16.com
