Thirteen Bronco boys are headed to the state track meet in Wichita this weekend after posting qualifying times and the 4A Chanute Regional.
“We are very excited to have thirteen boys competing at state this weekend,” said Coach Brent Smitheran. “Quite a few of our qualifiers made it to state on their final attempt or homestretch. I am so proud of what we have accomplished this season.”
Leading the way was junior Dylan Brenneman who won the 1600 meters in 4:35; the 800 meters in 1:58.5 and the 3200 in 10:02.
Roiel Swift took second in the 300 hurdles in 40.69 seconds and third in the long jump with a leap of 20’3 inches.
Nathan Ewing took third with a high jump of 6’0” and the triple jump (40’4.75 inches).
Earning fourth place qualifying marks were Sam Arnold with a shot put heave of 48’1 inches, James Barneet (100 meters in 11.5 seconds) and Jacob Letellier (300 hurdles in 42.24 seconds).
Three relay teams will be competing at state. The 400 relay of Swift, Barnett, Parker Allred and Colton Hamilton in a time of 44.54 seconds will be going. The 1600 relay of Swift, Hamilton, Lucas Moore and Allred in a second place time of 3:30.15 and the 3200 relay of Wyatt O’Leary, Michael Herman, Logan Bramble and Trevor North took fourth in a time of 9:29.93.
All told, the Spring Hill boys finished second with 90 points.
State takes place May 26-27 at Cessna Stadium in Wichita. The two placers in each event earn medals.
