Gardner Edgerton School Board held a special meeting on Monday, May 16 to approve the guaranteed maximum price for the structural snow loading modifications at Gardner Edgerton High School and the guaranteed maximum price for the Advanced Technical Center.
“Despite how we lay out these projects they don’t always coincide with meetings,” Bruce Kracl, director of operations, said. “We appreciate this second meeting in May.”
Kracl said the addition of eighteen classrooms and the band room creates varying roof heights on the high school.
“The snow drifting patterns will change,” he said. “We need to beef up the structure to endure the load.”
Kracl said they’d like to see the project completed by August or September when school starts because most of the work will be done through the band, drama and theater rooms.
McCown-Gordon will be assisting with the project for an estimated cost of $75,498.
The Advanced Technical Center project is estimated at about $7 million, Kracl said. He hopes to see the project start once school is out next week.
