The USD 231 Board of Education and administration is pleased to announce the new principal for Wheatridge Middle School. Board members approved the hire of Carl Garrett on May 9,at its regular Board of Education meeting. Garrett will assume his duties on July 1, 2016.
Garrett has served in the Olathe School District as assistant principal and athletics/activities director at Frontier Trail Middle School since 2011, and assistant principal and athletic/activities director at Prairie Trail Junior High School from 2009 to 2011. In addition, Garrett has taught in the Olathe School District from 2007 to 2009 and in the De Soto School District from 1997 to 2007.
Garrett holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in physical education and a Master’s degree in education from MidAmerica Nazarene University. He received his Administrative Certificate from Baker University in 2008.
“Mr. Garrett comes to USD 231 with 25 years of experience and a deep passion to consistently put students first,” said Pam Stranathan, superintendent of schools. “His determination to meet each child’s individual needs will serve the WMS school community well. I am excited to welcome Mr. Garrett to the Gardner Edgerton community.”
