Marshall Carpenter, Dylan Wolford and Jazz Davis won individual EKL track titles last week helping the Blazer boys to a sixth place finish at Blue Valley Northwest.
Following a two hour ten minute weather delay, The Blazers were sluggish on the track, but made up for it in the field events. Sixty seven of the Blazers 71 points came in field events. All three Blazers boys golds came from field event athletes.
Carpenter tossed the shot put 48’11 inches and Wolford threw the javelin 162’6 inches on his last attempt.
Jazz Davis outdueled teammate Davis Tropansky in a jumpoff to win the pole vault at 13’0 inches.
Silver medals went to Tropansky in the pole vault with a clearance of 13’0 inches and Andrew Sprague with a discus toss of 148’3 inches.
A bronze medal went to Josh Muse with a high jump of 6’0 inches.
The Blazer boys and girls crowned seven EKL champs, tying St. Thomas Aquinas for the most overall in league.
Up next is a 6A Regional at ODAC with the Blazers hoping to qualify many for state in Wichita.
Providing competition will be Olathe East, Olathe South, Olathe North, Olathe Northwest, Shawnee Mission Northwest, Shawnee Mission West and Lawrence.
All told, Blue Valley won the league title by a 136.3-134.5 margin over STA. Miege took third.
