Road grading and tree removal taking place near the intersection of 159th and 56 Highway is being done in preparation for future development.
The grading is being done for construction of a temporary road while that whole intersection is rebuilt, according to Greg Martinette, president, Southwest Johnson County Economic Development. Trees and brush on the west side of 56 are being cleared preparing for future development.
Going east, 159th St. between I-35 and Old 56 Highway, is closed to thru traffic both east and west directions due to a total reconstruction.  Detours utilize both Lone Elm Rd. and Old 56 Hwy for the duration of the project which will take approximately two years, according to Olathe’s website.
Access to businesses are via Old 56 to 159th St.
Clare Rd is closed thru mid-July
Work continues on raising the railroad tracks near Clare Rd. and Old US 56 Hwy, 0.1 mi north of 167th.
The road was closed April 6 and is not expected to open until mid-July. Clare Road is closed to all through traffic between 175th St., and Old 56. Local traffic can access property from either side of the closure.
The projects consists of raising the north tracks, grading and surfacing, according to jocoks.org.
