Playing one of its best matches of the season, the Blazer varsity soccer squad dropped a hard fought 6-3 decision.
“Even though the Blazers lost the match we managed to put three legit goals up on De Soto,” said Coach Walt Cochran. That’s the most De Soto has given up all season.”
The Blazers first goal came when Brooke Boyer broke through the De Soto defense and was fouled. GEHS capitalized when Rylee Ebert drilled home an 18 yard free penalty kick.
The second goal came from freshman Fiona Turner off an assist from sophomore Gracie Moorehouse.
Finally, varsity captain Lyric Henderson celebrated her senior night with the Blazers third goal. It came off an assist from Sydney Pugh.
In JV action, GEHS grabbed an early 2-0 lead and held on for a 2-2 tie with Desoto.
Freshman Jamie Gaither provided both Blazers goals off assists from Kaylyn Gordon and Sydney Smith.
The Blazers had a chance for the game winner late in the game, but De Soto’s goalkeeper made a great defensive play.
