It was a record setting day for the Spring Hill boys varsity track team at last weeks Frontier league meet.
As usual, junior Dylan Brenneman led the way. He improved his own school record and set the league record in the 1600 meters in 4:14.86. The previous record of 4:23.4 was set by Mitch Loring of GEHS in 2009.
Brenneman also set the 800 school record at 1:56.7 at league. The previous mark stood for 65 years and was set by Arthur Dazell in 1950 at 1:58.7.
After Dazell graduated from Spring Hill he ran for KU. In 1956 Arthur was an Olympian trials finalist in the 1500 and is a member of the Kansas Athletics Hall of Fame.
Lastly, the 1600 relay of Roiel Swift, Colton Hamilton, Brenneman and Parker Allred broke the school record in 3:27.1.
The old mark was 3:28.46.
