Robert James “Bob” Osborn, 92, of Spring Hill, Kan passed away April 22, 2016 at Golden Living in Spring Hill.
Bob was born February 12, 1924 in KC, Kan to Pauline Bertha (Schroeder) and Robert Osborn. He graduated from Gardner High School and was a life-long area resident. He played high school basketball at Turner, Stoney Point, Wyandotte & Gardner. Bob served in the U S Navy during WWII as an aviation machinist mate. Bob married Ruth Pauline Kingsley on October 6, 1951 in Olathe, Kan. He owned his own farm, raising crops, hay, and livestock. He loved the farming life and enjoyed going to farm auctions. He also worked at Sunflower Army Ammunitions Plant. Bob was a skilled carpenter who built several area homes. He was a member of the American Legion LeRoy Hill Post #19. A favorite pastime was going for rides in the Flint Hills that he referred to as “grass country”.
He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded by his parents and brother Ralph Eugene Osborn. Bob is survived by his wife Ruth, of the home; sons Bill and wife Paulette Osborn of Spring Hill and Robert and wife Sandy Lawless of Loveland, Co.; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Graveside Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, April 29, 2016, at Gardner Cemetery. Bob will lie-in-state from 10 am – 4 pm, April 28, 2016 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, Kan. 913-856-7111. Memorial Contributions may be given to Golden Living Center in Spring Hill or Asera Care Hospice. Condolences may be left at
