Crowning three individual champions, the Blazer boys track team brought back a fifth place team finish from the mid season Olathe Track Invitational at ODAC last Friday night.
Field events took center stage as Andrew Sprague tossed the discus a gold medal effort of 133’8” while Josh Muse cleared 6’0” to win the high jump.
Not to be outdone, sprinter Matt Summerlin raced to first in the 200 meters in a blistering 23.45 clocking. He also ran a personal best 11.14 time en route to a second place 100 meter finish.
“We are beginning to strike a balance between some great upper classmen talent and freshman sophomore potential,” said Coach Brian McGee.
McGee also liked the third place 400 meter time of Jasmin Anderson who clocked 50.78- one of the fastest 400 times in school history.
As usual, Jazz Davis provided the Blazers with second place pole vault points clearing 13’0.” Junior weight man Marshall Carpenter continued to excel as he took third in the shot put and later took sixth in the discus with a personal best 120’3.”
The Blazers have a big week in the Jaguar Invitational at Mill Valley and then the 89th Annual Kansas Relays.
