John Wayne Moses, 66, of Gardner, Kan. passed away April 6, 2016 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
John was born May 16, 1949 in Rock Island, Ill. to John Raymond and Marian Lavone (Forrest) Moses. He grew up in Centropolis, Kan. and graduated from Pomona High School. John was drafted to the United States Army. He married Patricia Surface January 1, 1981 in Ottawa, Kan. He worked in plastics manufacturing for over 20 years before working for COF Training Services in Ottawa, where he retired from in 2010. John was known to many as “The Duke”. He loved riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John loved to read, he was especially fond of James Patterson books and he loved to watch the History channel. He was a proud veteran and always tried to be involved in events with the American Legion Riders Post 19. John always had a story to tell you, he loved to just sit and talk to people. He will be missed by family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents and wife. He is survived by his children: Kathi Finney of Ottawa, Kan, Angel Moses of Ottawa, Kan, Jenny Moses of Gardner, Kan. and Jamie Mills of Council Bluffs, Iowa; siblings: Ruth Moses of Centropolis, Kan, Lynn Moses of Stull, Kan and Mary Moses of Centropolis, Kan; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life will be 12:00 pm April 16,  at the Gardner American Legion, 315 Meadowbrook, Gardner, Kan. 66030. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion LeRoy Hill Post 19. Arrangements by: Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner 913-856-7111. Condolences may be left at Pic
