Despite marked improvement, the GEHS varsity baseball team dropped an EKL doubleheader to Bishop Miege last week.
Miege won the opener, 16-9 and used a strong pitching performance to blank the Blazers 2-0 in game two.
In game one, Brett Sherman (0-2) took the pitching loss. Despite the loss, GEHS did manage 10 hits, led by Tyler Henry and Andrew Halverson (two hits apiece).
Tim Wood batted his second homerun of the season.
In game two, GEHS battled defensively, but struggled at the plate and fell 2-0.
Blazers pitcher Seth Greer pitched well enough to win completing six strong innings.
GEHS managed just three hits from Jared Highfill, Tyler Henry and Emilio Oropeza.
“Seth pitched well enough to win,” said coach Ryan Plankenhorn. “Miege had strong pitching to silence our bats.”
Now 1-5, GEHS returns home to host STA this week.
