Numbers speak well for the Wheatridge and Pioneer Ridge track teams. Practice got underway March 8 at both sites.
At Pioneer, Coach Jeff Davidson and Darrell Wait reported 100 kids (55 boys and 45 girls) attending.
“We’ve had a few practices and the coaches are excited to get going,” said Davidson. “We have many returners that had good performances and hopes of becoming league champions.” Pioneer opens the season with a triangular meet at Baldwin April 5th.
At WMS, Coach Denise Rousselo welcomed 85 tracksters to practice.
“The first three weeks are structured to provide the necessary skill learning and conditioning to prepare for a successful season,” Rousello said.
Assisting Rousello are Michelle Gaillez (long jump and relays), Rowdy Susnik (discus and shot put), Wes Slavins (sprints, hurdles, and relays), and Kelsey Nelson (pole vault).
First meet is set for April 5. The team travels to Baldwin April 11th.
