Building permits dipped just a bit in 2015 with 61 residential permits issued in Gardner; 85 were issued in 2014.
The city’s all-time high was 2004 with 443 single family home permits; all time low was 40 in 2011.
“We are mirroring the county trend of more housing being constructed,” said DaneekA Marshall-Oquendo, Gardner communication manager. “Home construction is steady with a small upward trend over the last three years.”
Two commercial permits were issued; one duplex and four multi-family permits for a total of 78 new units.
Olathe RV completed an expansion project, and Orscheln’s broke ground with construction to be completed in 2016.
Construction began in December on  Orscheln Farm and Home store on the south side of Gardner. The new store will be located on 19 acres on the northwest corner of 188th St. and S. Gardner Road with a spring 2016 opening planned. Orscheln officials received site and zoning approval from the plan commission in April of 2015.
