Eleven Blazers brought back gold medals highlighting an impressive performance by GEHS at the fifteen team Emporia High School weightlifting tournament February 13.
“The kids did a great job and it was fun day,” said Coach Marvin Diener.
The Blazers had five individual champions in the junior men’s division. At 114 pounds, Ethan Beharry took the gold, while Mason Ditto won the 166 pound weight class.
Blazer running back Keegan Michael scored a 10-8 win at 181 pounds and all EKL linebacker Tyler Henry won the 191 pound weight class.
The final gold came from Hayden Mulford at 267 pounds.
In the Men’s High School division, all EKL running back Hunter Skeens took gold at 157 pounds, while all EKL cornerback Jared Highfill took the crown at 172 pounds.
The final gold went to Jake Sanders at 181 pounds.
In the women’s division, Roesha Daniels won the 114 pounds division and Gracie Moorehouse won the 123 pound weight class. The day’s final gold went to Kelsey Leffert in the 151 pound weight class.
The Blazers won all three divisions; Junior men’s, Senior men’s, and the Women’s division in the fifteen school meet.
