The Gardner Edgerton school district has extended their Transportation Services Contract with First Student Bus Service through July 2020.
Jeremy McFadden, finance and internal operations chairperson, said the original agreement was approved on July 2011 and began October 1, 2011 commencing on July 1, 2015. The extension will be retroactive back to July 1, 2015.
“Either party may terminate the agreement at the conclusion of a contract year,”:he said. “The termination clause states they have to give a six months prior notice to January 1st of any school year.”
Bruce Kracl, director of operations, said at the beginning of each contract year First Student will not have a bus fleet older than 11 years of age, and they will maintain an average bus age of 8 years. “This is an amendment to the contract,” he said.
First Student will retain 13 percent of all Payride revenue collected up to $80,000 and 20 percent of all collections greater than $80,000, according to the contract.
McFadden said the regular route rates decrease in this fiscal year, but they will provide annual increases to the drivers.
“We recognize the desire to provide compensation increases to qualified drivers,” he said. First Student Exhibit A – Route Pricing
