A 36-31 win against Olathe Northwest last week kept the Blazer varsity wrestling team a perfect 5-0 in duels this season.
“We survived a close duel competition versus Olathe Northwest and I was real proud of the effort,” said Coach Jeremy Williams.
Drake Taysom started things off with a pin of Kane Taddene at 106 pounds. After Taven Ewbank had a forfeit at 113 pounds, Matt Klaurens lost a 9-0 major decision to will Whitaker.
Alex Weber earned a pin of Marcel Brodenave at 106 pounds, but Jensen McDermott lost a 14-5 decision at 132 pounds.
Tanner Ewbank lost by pin at 138 pounds, but Conner Greig gave the Blazers a win at 145 pounds.
Austin Furnas lost by pin to Anthony Macalus at 152 pounds and Jacob Hunsperger lost an 11-4 decision to Trevor Adam at 160 pounds.
Jackson Flowers lost a major decision to Luke Middleton at 170 pounds, but Dustin Carstens gave GEHS a pin over Cody Marlette at 182 pounds.
Justin Sikes lost a 12-2 major decision to Chase Hartguist at 195 pounds.
The Blazers ended the night with ‘key’ wins by Andrew Sprague, 220 pounds and Edrick Rouse at 285 pounds.
