Barbara Macatee 76, of Gardner, KS, formerly of Parsons, died at 10:27 P.M., Friday, December 25, 2015 at her home.  Her death was unexptected.
She was born July 21, 1939 at Shreveport, LA, a daughter of Anthony J. and Juanita Leah (Hardman) Nunnink.  The family moved to St. Paul, KS when she was five years old.  She attended St. Francis Catholic School until the Fourth Grade, when her family moved to Parsons, KS.  She then attended the St. Patricks Catholic School.
She married Floyd “Gene” McAtee on June 4, 1960 at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at Parsons.  He survives of the home.
She was employed by the Census Bureau in Pittsburg and later worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Parsons from 1958-1980.  She was also a co-owner with her husband of the Daylight Donut Shop and also McAtee’s Liquor Store.  She also operated an antique booth at Connie’s Antiques in Joplin for ten years.
She was a member of the former St. Mary’s Catholic Church and later St. Patrick’s.  Upon moving to Gardner in 2006, she transferred her membership to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  She was a fine art painter.  Her other hobbies included gardening, golfing, collecting antiques, computers and spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by a daughter – Lynn Denise McAtee on June 17, 1979; and her parents – Anthony and Juanita Nunnink.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the St. francis Catholic Church at St. Paul, with Fr. David Michael Htun officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery at Parsons.  The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 Tuesday evening at the CARSON-WALL FUNERAL HOME at Parsons, with visitation following.  Memorials are suggested to the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Parsons or to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Gardner.  These may be left or mailed to the funeral home, P.O.
