Four different Mad Science® programs for youth are being offered by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District at the New Century Fieldhouse near Gardner over the winter break.
The programs are called Mad Science® Winter Break Science Fun on Dec. 21-23  and Dec. 28-31 and Mad Science® School’s Out Science Fun on Jan. 4 and Jan. 5. These programs are separate from and in addition to five Mad Science® School’s Out Science Fun programs being offered primarily for De Soto students in late December at JCPRD’s Okun Fieldhouse in Shawnee.
Winter Break Science Fun programs for ages six through 12 at New Century include Secret Agent Lab which will take place from Dec. 21 – 23 at a cost of $175 per person for Johnson County residents or $193 for nonresidents, and Claws, Codes, and Chemical Counting, which will take place from Dec. 28 – 31 at a cost of $230 per person for residents or $253 for nonresidents.
School’s Out Science Workbench on Tuesday, Jan. 5. Each of these programs is $60 per person for Johnson County residents or $66 per person for nonresidents. Fun single-day programs for ages seven through 12 at New Century include Crazy Chemistry on Monday, Jan. 4 , and Edison’s.
All of these programs involve seven-hour sessions at 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. For the convenience of working parents, children can be dropped off as early as 8 a.m. and picked up as late as 5:30 p.m.   Participants should bring a sack lunch and a water bottle daily.

All of these programs are also eligible for credit in the Intellectual dimension for the  JCPRD U holistic wellness program for ages three to 18.
