Kearney Pic edit1_edited-1Nancy Louise Kearney, 85, of Gardner, KS passed away December 9, 2015 at Olathe Medical Center.
Nancy was born September 20, 1930 in Kansas City, Mo to Olen E. and Nellie (Stewart) Brown.  She graduated from Shawnee Mission High School, where she played basketball and then she attended Research Nursing School.  Nancy married James Kenneth Kearney on April 4, 1950 and of this union six children were born.  They enjoyed 63 years of marriage together.  She owned and operated Kearney Greenhouse with her husband from 1956-2002.  They started their business in Shawnee, Ks. for five years until they relocated to Gardner in 1961. Nancy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gardner, Business Women’s Assoc. in Shawnee and was a 4-H food leader and judge.  She was Guardian of Job’s Daughters Bethel #56 of Gardner and Bethel #27 of Shawnee.  Nancy loved her flowers, birds and her large extended family.  She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James in 2014; son, Randy Kearney and brother, Clifford Brown.  She is survived by her children: Robert and Barbara Kearney, Kathy Hadley, Sue and Steve Enright, Chris and Cindy Kearney, Ken and Diana Kearney; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am Monday, December 14, 2015 at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S. Center, Gardner, Kan. 913-856-7111.  Burial will follow at Edgerton Cemetery, Edgerton, KS.  Visitation 2:00 to 4:00 pm Sunday, December 13, 2015 also at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be given to National Children’s Cancer Society.  Condolences may be left at
