At least one more informational meeting regarding USD 231’s proposed $29.7 million bond is scheduled.
Although the meeting is just a week before Christmas – Dec. 17 at 6 p.m. at Gardner Edgerton High School – district patrons might want to mark their calendars and attend.
According to the district’s website, the bond would “renovate and expand existing space and construct two new ancillary facilities for greater student opportunities, address capital improvement needs and technology replacements and upgrades.”
In other wordsthe bond issue would add 18 classrooms and a separate career and technical education building to Gardner Edgerton High School. GEHS was originally designed to house 1,600 students. There are 1,519 GEHS students this year.
Deadline for registering to vote for the mail in election is January 12, and ballots will be mailed January 13. Voting deadline is Feb. 2016 and ballots must be received at the Johnson County Election office by noon.
We urge patrons to take a few minutes from their hectic Christmas schedules to attend the meeting or to become informed and ask questions regarding the upcoming $29.7 bond issue.
