Gardner will host its second Citizens Academy, Gardner You! beginning Jan. 28. Gardner You! is a seven-week interactive civic and public information program that focuses on educating residents and business owners about the City of Gardner’s governmental process.  Department directors and other city staff will lead unique and informative sessions designed to give citizens hands-on experience in city government operations.
Gardner You! sessions will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at city hall. Topics to be covered include: finance and budget, business and economic development, and city boards and commissions. The academy will also include a tour of city facilities on March 25.
The academy is open to Gardner residents and business owners who are 18 years old or older. Five of the available twenty slots are reserved for students at Gardner-Edgerton High School. Students must provide a recommendation from a teacher or other faculty member as to why the student should attend the Citizens Academy. Slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
