Falling behind 23-13 at halftime, the Spring Hill High School Bronco football team dropped a 37-19 decision to Louisburg High School in the season finale last Friday night.
Spring Hill jumped to a quick 7-0 lead when Tyshawn Straw returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown.
Louisburg countered with a six-yard touchdown run to knot the score at 7-7 in the first quarter.
Louisburg added 16 second quarter points thanks to a safety and touchdown runs of one and 21 yards.
In between, Spring Hill got a 49-yard touchdown run by Straw. Carver Gertberger’s point after was good, and the score was 23-13 at halftime.
Spring Hill pulled within 23-19 in the third quarter when William Lovetinsky connected with Nathan Ewing on an 11-yard touchdown pass.
But Louisburg regrouped with 14, fourth quarter points to secure the 37-19 win.
Offensively, Lovetinsky connected on three of 10 passes for 52 yards, and Straw carried 11 times for 73 yards. Straw also returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown.
Ewing hauled in three catches for 52 yards and a touchdown.
“We had a chance to beat a very good Louisburg team,” said SHHS Coach Jason Feeback. “Our guys played hard and left nothing on the field. I am very proud of the effort.”
Ending 2-7, Spring Hill returns eight starters on the offensive and six on the defense.
