Gardner Edgerton High School golfers, Mia Tovkach and Emily Smith, shot 38 and tied for third place at last week’s Overland Park Golf Course Ryder Cup scramble format tournament.
The tournament format combines scores for tam points, two-person trophies and team trophies.
Other groups were Taylor Hill and Hannah Trivitt, who shot 45, Taylor Snell and Skyler Washington who shot 48, Hope Bruno and Shae Stamps, who shot 56, Haley Meyer and Alexis Bailey, who shot 61.
GEHS golfers also competed at a Hidden Springs nine-hole event on Sept. 29. Blazer newcomer Skylar Washington shot a 62 in her first varsity meet, good enough for first place. Stamps shot a 67, Snell shot a 71, Smith shot a 74 and Meyer shot a 75 in the tournament.
Final action of the week came at the Eagle Bend Course in Lawrence. This meet served as the second of three Eastern Kansas League tournaments.
Tovkach led the way with an 18-hole school record score of 74, breaking the 15-year-old record previously set by Barbie Buckingham.
Tovkach now holds the nine and 18-hole school records.
Other scores were Trivitt with a 93, Bruno with a 95, and Hill with a score of 105.
As a team, GEHS also shot a new school record of 367 and took fifth place.
