It was a rough night for the Spring Hill High School Bronco football team. The squad dropped its home opener against Paola High School on Sept. 4.
The Bronco team fell behind at halftime, 35-6, and the team wasn’t able to overcome the first half deficit. When the clock marked the end of the second half, the final score read Paola 60, Spring Hill 25.
First half scoring for Spring Hill came on a six yard touchdown by Ty Straw, but the point after the touchdown did not split the uprights.
Paola scored a third quarter touchdown and then sealed the verdict with 18, fourth quarter points.
The Broncos scored nineteen fourth quarter points. SHHS’ RayQuon Stowers scored on a three-yard run followed by a thirty-three yard pass from SHHS’ William Lovetinsky to Nate Ewing.
Spring Hill’s final scored came on a five yard Stowers’ touchdown.
Spring Hill will wait until Sept. 18 to play a Frontier League game at Ottawa.
“Paola played a good game,” said first year Coach Jason Feeback. “We need to continue to improve. The biggest improvements happen between weeks one and two. We will get better this week.”
