Johnson County K-State Research and Extension will offer a five-day, hands-on upholstery class at the Johnson County Fairgrounds in September.
The five-day class will run from 9 a.m. through 4 p.m. Sept. 14-18.
Participants must attend an orientation meeting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the Johnson County K-State Extension office, 11811 S. Sunset Drive, in Olathe. Participants are asked to bring details regarding the furniture piece to be upholstered (type of chair, etc.), dimensions and a photo.
“Some of our class participants have good quality furniture that they don’t want to discard just because the fabric is old and worn,” said Valeria Edwards, family and consumer sciences agent for Johnson County. “Some people bring in family heirlooms and update their look,” she added. “This class is perfect for someone who likes DIY projects. The instructor is there guiding you every step of the way.”
There is a fee to attend the workshop and advance registration is required. For more information or to register, call the Johnson County Extension office at 913-715-7000 or visit
