Former Gardner Edgerton High School standout and Kansas City Royals’ top prospect Bubba Starling hit for the cycle July 28 as his AA Arkansas Naturals, a Royals’ affiliate, defeated the Arkansas Travelers 10-4.
Starling became the first Natural to hit for the cycle and the first Texas League player to do so since the Traveler’s Zach Borenstein last April 20.
Starling actually started the night with a ground out to first base. In the third inning, he blasted a three-run homer to put the Nat’s up 6-0.
In his third plate appearance, Starling doubled down the left field line. In the seventh inning, Starling tripled into the left field corner. He later scored on a Hunter Dozier ground out.
Up 10-3, Starling completed the cycle with a single in the ninth inning.
Starling, a center fielder, has a five game hitting streak and has raised his batting average to .281.
