Mikayla Smith led an impressive list of Spring Hill High School lady Broncos recently named to the Kansas State Girls All-State Soccer team.
Smith earned first team honors while Sydney Shoemaker and Abigail Mikesell took second team awards.
Smith led Class 1-4A in scoring with 30 goals, helping Spring Hill to a 13-6 record and a Northeast Regional title. As a junior, Smith has already verbally committed to play soccer at the University of Missouri Kansas City this fall.
Goalie Mikesell earned second team honors, posting six shut-outs and making 125 saves. As a senior, she signed a letter of intent to play soccer at Culver Stockton this fall.
Shoemaker, a senior, earned second team honors. She had eight goals and five assists on the season. She will play soccer at Baker University this fall.
Their efforts helped Spring Hill win the northeast regional title, and the season ended with a heartbreaking three overtime loss to De Soto.
The cupboard is not bare as the Broncos return several experienced players and will be poised for another state run in 2016.
