The Gardner Track Club in conjunction with the Johnson County Fair, the city of Gardner and USD 231 present the annual Street Pole Vault. Vaulting will begin at 1 p.m. on Aug. 1 on the north side of Gardner Elementary School.
A free youth bungee jump will be held from noon to 12:30 p.m. prior to the vault competition.
Vaulting will begin with a progressing base starting at 5 feet.
Boys and girls will vault together based on personal records.
Group one will include participants with 9-foot personal records while group two includes those with personal records of 9 feet, 6 inches to 13 feet, 6 inches. Group three will consist of Elite Male Vaulters with a minimum personal record of 14 feet.
There is a cost to participants and the event benefits the Gardner Track Club.
Former Gardner Edgerton High School standouts Kyle Wait, Kyle Stubler, Casey Bowen will be the featured performers.
Also in the field will be Brittany Kallenberger, who competes for Central Missouri State University and won the 2015 NCAA Division II National pole vault champion.
Nicole Kallenberger, from Lee’s Summit, holds the All Class high school pole vault record for the state of Missouri. She will also be joining the competition. Jordan Scott, a University of Kansas alumni and a former NCAA Division I outdoor national pole vault champion will also participate. She jumped 18-feet in the Gardner Street Vault last year.
