The Lucky Clover 4-H Club meets at Gracepoint Church in Shawnee on the secondTuesday of every month.
The active club has 27 members and is involved in community service and various 4-H activities. Lucky Clover’s community service activities have included a country fair at Rose Estates Assisted Living, donating food for the food pantry at Gracepoint Church, collecting animal and cleaning supply donations for the Great Plains SPCA, and filling shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child to be sent to children around the world.
Club members are very involved in 4-H projects like cake decorating, foods, arts and for Ak-Sar-Ben this year. Grady and Logan Allen have had a very successful show season with their goats and sheep.
In April, JCLC hosted 51 exhibitors showing 71 breeding/market animals at the Spring Beef Show in Gardner. At the conclusion of showmanship, Judge Clint Woodrow conducted a showmanship demonstration with the Senior Division Grand Champion Showman, Blair Vohs. In May, JCLC hosted sheep, goat, swine, and bucket calf shows at the Johnson County Fairgrounds. More than 100 exhibitors showed at these events. JCLC Reporter, Jack McCracken, won Senior Bucket Calf Showman and JCLC member, Noah Milford, won Junior Bucket Calf Showman.
JCLC looks forward to a fun and successful Fair. Good luck to everyone exhibiting this year!
