The All-Eastern Kansas League softball team is heavy with members from the Gardner Edgerton High school softball squad.
Five lady Blazers were recently named to the All-EKL team.
Sydney Anderson, Kiana Baderdeen, and Cassidy Greer scored first team honors. Anderson, a junior, is an outfielder. Sophomore Greer is a catcher, and Baderdeen, a senior, was a designated player on the first team list.
Sophomore pitcher Abby Cox earned a spot on the All-EKL second team, while sophomore Mikayla Galvin, a utility player, was given an honorable mention.
The Blazers ended the season with a 17-6 record. The GEHS team took second in the Eastern Kansas League, winning 10 of 14 league games, and the Blazers made a trip to the 6A Kansas State Softball quarter finals.
Next year’s Blazer softball team will feel the loss of this year’s seniors, Baderdeen and Kendra Rogers, however a solid cast returns to fill next year’s roster.
