It’s been quite a season for Coach Robert Dillon and his 11- and-under AA Blazer baseball team.
So far, the Blazers own a 24-8 overall record and sit atop the 3&2 Division I Blue League with a 6-1 record. The team currently ranks third in the state of Kansas power rankings.
In its tourney opener, the Blazers won the Alex Gordon Classic. In the semi-final game, Jake McClure tossed a one-hitter to defeat the Crushers.
In the title game, McClure and Zach Soza scattered four hits to defeat the Basehor Cubs 9-1.
Connor Wisecup was the hitting star going 2-4 with a double and five RBIs.
The team recently won the Big League Chew Summer Classic with a 3-1 record.
After falling behind in the championship game, the Blazer offense unloaded for 12 runs in the top of the fourth inning to post a 17-7 win over the Storm Chasers of Olathe.
“We are an athletic team that has made great improvement defensively,” Coach Dillon said. “The kids practice hard and enjoy the game.”
