The opening day celebration for the Gardner Aquatic Center originally set for  Saturday, May 23, has been postponed due to the forecast of  rain and cool temperatures.  The opening day celebration will now take place on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25 at 1 p.m.
According to city policy, the aquatic center cannot open when air temperature is below 70 degrees. The city encourages the public to call the city’s weather hotline at 913.543.5305 or visit their website at to check if the aquatic center will open this coming Saturday and/or Sunday.
While the opening day celebration has moved to Memorial Day, visitors will still enjoy some free food, fun giveaways, a comedic magician, a live DJ and swimming. Visitors must possess an annual pass or pay the $6 daily admission fee for admittance into the aquatic center.
