On Saturday, May 23, at 1 p.m., the City of Gardner will host an opening day celebration event to recognize the completion of its newly rehabilitated aquatic center.
The aquatic center, known as one of Gardner’s greatest summer attractions, underwent a $545,000 makeover in a seven-month timeframe to conduct gutter replacements, apply fresh paint to the pools and slides, replace pool furniture, slide and float walk pads, improve ventilation to a pump room, replace the roof on the bathhouse and install security cameras.
Visitors can come to the celebration event to see the new enhancements while enjoying some free food, fun giveaways, a comedic magician, a live DJ and swimming. Visitors must possess an annual pass or pay the $6 daily admission fee for admittance into the aquatic center.
The city will postpone the event should rain occur. Individuals can call the city’s weather hotline at 913.543.5305 or visit their website at http://www.gardnerkansas.gov/pool/ to check for event updates.
