Susie Mackey

Susie Mackey, Spring Hill, became a recent graduate of the Kansas Agriculture and Rural Leadership Program (KARL). Graduation ceremonies, honoring Mackey and 29 classmates, were April 18 at Kansas State University.
Mackey began this journey of leadership excellence two years ago as she was chosen to be a member of KARL Class XII.
The program provides premier agricultural leaders an educational experience including intensive training, study and travel and affords class members the opportunity to change the world by building on integrity, confidence, discipline, professionalism, self development, global viewpoint and servant mentality.
The experience is funded by donations to the KARL Program from individuals, agriculture business and farmers/ranchers.
Mackey participated in nine in-state seminars, as well as study tours over the past two years including a trip to Washington D.C. to learn about federal decision making and a Blue Chip study trip to Burlington Northern Santa Fe in Ft. Worth, Texas.
The class capped its studies with an international tour to South Africa to examine global agricultural.
“I had to respect and honor the opportunity afforded to me by this outstanding organization to better myself and to be a step-up person and lead my industry and help educate others and be a voice for my profession of agriculture,” Mackey said.
Mackey raises registered Angus cattle in Gardner, and assists her family in farming and dairy cattle production in Olathe.
She is the daughter of Frank and Virginia Mackey, Olathe.
