The USD 231 nutrition services department has been feeding children between the ages of 1 to 18 free breakfast and lunches during the summer months for the last five summers. A total of 72,389 meals were served to 21,025 children during this time. In the past, Gardner Elementary was the only USD 231 school to qualify for this program. This year, two more USD 231 schools have qualified to offer this great program. Children may visit Moonlight Elementary and Edgerton Elementary this summer as well as Wheatridge Middle School between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. for a free breakfast meal and/or between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. for a free lunch meal. Due to renovation at Gardner Elementary this summer, the program will be held at Wheatridge Middle School.
