Gifted students from Trail Ridge Middle School and Wheatridge Middle School competed in a robotics competition on March 26, according to a report to the USD 231 school board from Judy Martin, director of special services. The competition pitted teams of students from the schools in seven events, including the navigation of a brick maze and making soccer goals. A total of 15 students and three coaches competed in the first annual event, Ridge Robotics Rumble.
The team from TRMS, with 96 points, was victorious in a close match between the cross town rival schools. WMS students nabbed 90 points.
