Gardner and Edgerton voters will select new city council and school board members next week.
Recently, the Gardner News sent questionnaires to candidates in the school board, Edgerton City Council and Gardner City Council races. They were given a 50-word count limit per question and to submit a photograph and a brief biography. Not all candidates responded.
Gardner voters will elect, at-large, three city council members.The candidates include incumbent Heath Freeman, Randy Gregorcyk, Brett Limer, Rich Melton, Lee Moore, incumbent Tory Roberts and incumbent Todd Winters. Voters will select a majority, or three members, of the five-member council.
Edgerton voters will have a similar opportunity – electing three members of the five-member council. Candidates in that race include incumbent Jody Brown, Darius Crist, incumbent Frances Cross, Deb Lebakken, incumbent Clay Longanecker, Marvin Vail and Cliff Withrow.
There are eight candidates for five seats on the Gardner Edgerton School District Board of Education. The school board members are elected at-large from different geographical districts. Voters will have a choice between Kristen Schultz and Mindy Jo Wymer for position no. 1; between Karen Casey and Greg Chapman for position no. 2; and between Shaun O. Henderson and Robin Strentz for position no. 7. Incumbents Tresa Boden, position no. 3; and Mary Nelson, position no. 4, are running unopposed.
