The Gardner News asked each Gardner City Council, Edgerton City Council and USD 231 candidate for a brief, 50-word biography. Not all candidates responded.
Gardner City Council
We have lived in Gardner since 2006, choosing the city for its affordable homes, strong schools, and small town character. I work for a publishing company in Lenexa, while my wife, Jaylene, is a teacher at GEHS. Our son, Peyton, is a second-grader at Madison Elementary.
I’m integrated with the city, serving as a Planning Commissioner. I’m invested in our schools, serving as president of the GEHS site council. I’m involved in our community, serving as a 10-year soccer coach for Gardner Parks and Recreation. I’ve worked for 17 years as a Software Engineer for Sprint.
I’m a proud, involved Gardner resident since 2004, work at Stouse, Inc. in New Century since 1995. Currently, I’m on the Gardner City Council, former Chairman of the Planning Commission and former member of the Board of Zoning Appeals. I am a citizen, not a politician. I am your voice!
I am a Doctor of Chiropractic and owner of Winters Chiropractic. My wife Deidre and I have two amazing children, Addison (3) and Brayden (2.) I will bring experience, dedication, and common sense.

My family has lived here most of our lives and has much invested in its future. Our community relies upon quality education. I will serve our district through good listening and relationship building. My background includes production and customer service. My family members are all graduates of USD 231.
Shaun O. Henderson
I am running for my daughters (GE & GEHS), and the children of Gardner and Edgerton. I have lived in this district since 2000, I have an MBA in finance, work for USDA, teach local college, and board member of Mazuma Credit Union. The children, and retaining good teachers, will be my focus.
I grew up in Gardner and have spent the majority of my life living and working within the USD 231 community. I have 29 years of professional banking experience. Currently, I’m a senior vice president/commercial lender. I’m married with two children, both of whom have attended USD 231.
My husband and I have lived in the district for nearly 20 years, the first 11 in Edgerton, and the past 8 in Gardner. Our oldest daughter graduated in 2007 and is currently a teacher at GEHS, our son attends KSU and our youngest daughter is an eighth grader at PRMS.
Edgerton City Council
Born and raised and South Dakota, my husband Eric and I moved to Edgerton 8 years ago. We chose Edgerton because of its size and location, having grown up going to school in a small town. I work as a software quality insurance analyst for a company in Overland Park.
