Two police officers are on administrative leave after a shooting in a Gardner home on March 26.
The shooting left a 53-year-old woman, Deanne Choate,  dead inside a home in the 400 block of N. Birch Street.  Shortly before 10 p.m. last night, officers responded to a call from the woman’s boyfriend, who said she had fired a shot inside the house.
When police responded, the woman was shot by officers. It is routine for officers to be placed on administrative leave following an officer-involved shooting.
The Gardner Police Department has turned media inquiries and investigation responsibilities over to the Olathe Police Department and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
