The Gardner Edgerton High School lady Blazers fought to continue their basketball season last week in first-round 6A sub-state play.
Early on, the Blazers took control of a game against Blue Valley Northwest High School on March 5. The GEHS team led 19-7 after one quarter. The score was tied, 21-21, at halftime
Northwest came out of the locker room ready to play. The Blue Valley team took control in the third quarter with a 16-11 run. They would hold-off a late Blazer rally to post a two-point, 49-47, win that finished the lady Blazers’ season.
Despite the loss, Angelice Tucker had 15 points and Cassidy Androff had 14. Kelsey Leffert had eight points. Taylor Carpenter and Savannah Hallier had five points apiece.
