Special to The Gardner News
Trails West Barbershop Chorus of Olathe had barbershop quartets out delivering singing valentines to people all over Johnson County. I caught up with one of the groups, the Spare Parts Barbershop Chorus, when they visited Blazers Restaurant in Gardner to delver a singing valentine to Dawn Borth. Joel Short, Dale Ellis, Rob McWilliams, and Loren Goss are the members of the Spare Parts quartet.
The quartet arrived at Blazers in the middle of the busy lunch hour. They were there to deliver a singing valentine for Wally Forth, owner of Blazers, to his wife Dawn. Dawn said she was working in the kitchen when some of her employees said she was needed up front and she was shocked when she realized the quartet was there to sing for her. The lunchtime patrons watched with smiles and took some pictures. As Spare Parts sang, Dawn was handed a Valentines Day card from Wally, valentines chocolates and a red rose.

Spare Parts also sang that day for Alice Rockey of Olathe. Alice and Dale Rockey, both 99 years old, live in Olathe and have been married for 81 years.
Spare Parts has delivered singing Valentines in the KC area for years and they also are available to perform at birthday parties, wedding receptions and other special occasions. You can contact them on the web at www.trailswestbarbershoppers.com.
