The Gardner Edgerton High School boys varsity basketball team battled until the final buzzer, but the team was unable to overcome Blue Valley North High School last week. The final score saw the Blazers down 62-49 in the Eastern Kansas League match-up. GEHS kept the score close in the opening minutes, but North pulled ahead 14-2 after one quarter. GEHS rallied in the second quarter to pull within reach. At halftime, North was up 23-21.
However, North outscored the Blazers 16-6 in the third quarter and sealed the victory with an additional 23 points in the fourth quarter.
Despite the loss, GEHS senior point guard Brett Wright had 20 points while Kyle Hultgren added 12 points. Nash Bostwick had four points, Bryson Rohr, four points, and Jacob Haywood had four points. Nate Wagner tallied two points.
