Negotiations between Gardner-Edgerton National Educator’s Association and USD 231 are underway, Jody Marshall, school director of human resources reported to the school board in a Feb. 9 memo. Negotiation teams from the administration and the teacher’s union on Jan. 31 to exchange items to be considered during the process. The teams have tentatively scheduled a first meeting on March 4.
District negotiators provided a list of eight items they would like to discuss in teacher contract negotiations. The list included health and dental benefits, the salary schedule and the supplemental salary schedule, annual discretionary leave days and employee due process.
The GENEA negotiation list of items overlapped most of those, and added additional requests for topic discussion. GENEA asked to update the USD 231 dress code to reflect current practices, and requested that the district consider providing paid tuition for all-day kindergarten for certified staff and a $50 waiver of registration fees for students of certified employees.
