George Conley (Dutch) Ahrens, 91, of Marshall, MO, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at The Living Center in Marshall.
 
Born May 27, 1923, in Malta Bend, Mo, Dutch was the son of the late Carl Otto Ahrens and Mary Golden Ahrens.
On April 26, 1975, he married Mildred Lusby Pollard who survives of the home.
He lived and worked in Saline County most of his life. Many became friends and acquaintances with him while working at Howard Construction, delivering gas for C&P, Mid-State Seed, Saline County road services and Fletcher Grain Company. He was proud to have served his country, joining the 162nd Infantry on September 30, 1944, serving in the Philippines, and receiving an honorable discharge on February 14, 1946. While health allowed, he was a faithful member of Malta Bend American Legion Post #558. He was also a member of United Methodist Church in Malta Bend, joining in 1945.
In addition to his parents, Dutch was preceded in death by one grandson, Mickey Linn Williams; one brother, Paul Ahrens; and two sisters, Gladys Rohlfing and Viola Taylor.
In addition to his wife, Mildred, Dutch  is survived by six children, Doris Ann Williams and husband, Richard, of Warsaw, Mo, Connie Lee Ahrens and wife, Elaine, of Blue Springs, Mo, Pam Gulley and husband, Roy, of London AR, Darrell Ahrens and wife, Marilyn. of rural Marshall, Vicki Arni and husband, Matt, of Marshall and Timmy Ahrens of Pilot Grove, MO; four stepdaughters, Toni Campbell and husband, Dewitt, Florence Oswald and husband, Leyton, and Diana Reyes all of Marshall and Deborah Lawson and husband, Rich, of Warrensburg, Mo; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren , great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews .
 
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 9, 2015, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. Bill Cook officiating. Visitation will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be held at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Memorials may be made to Malta Bend American Legion Post 558 or Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice.
