Andrew Sprague finished fifth in the 220 pound division highlighting the Gardner Edgerton High School wrestling team’s performance at the 57th Rocky Welton Invitational in Garden City last weekend.
Sprague was the only Blazer to medal, though several other GEHS squad members competed well. Dustin Carstens took 11th at 170 pounds. Jacob Bonham at 113 pounds, and Dylan McDonald at 126 pounds both finished in 12th place, and Edrick Rouse, at 285 pounds, finished 15th.
Other Blazers competing included Drake Taysom, Matt Klaurens, Tyler Norton, Kyle Cunningham, Jackson Flowers, Zach Norton and Wyatt Hollingshead.
The final home duel against Emporia High School is Feb 5. It is senior night with junior varsity action beginning at 5 p.m. and varsity action starting at 6 p.m.
