Johnson County has a new director of facilities management. Brad Reinhardt has a 30-year career that includes related industry experience at Sprint Corporation and HCA Midwest Health. Reinhardt joined the county on Jan. 12. Joe Waters, who previously held the position, advanced to the county manager’s office, becoming the county’s full time bureau chief in November. Waters is now responsible for central services departments.
Most recently, Reinhardt spent five of his 15 years at Sprint as the real estate manager of national facilities management, overseeing facility management services for a national portfolio of commercial, retail and technical facilities. His career experience prior to Sprint included director of engineering/Plant Operations for HCA Midwest Health, and prior to that, a combined 15 years as a consulting engineer with Henderson Engineers and Black & Veatch.
“I’m very excited to take this next step of my 30-years career into the public sector,” Reinhardt said. “It’s a privilege to be able to contribute my experience and knowledge to Johnson County, where I’ve lived for 30 years.”
Johnson County government operates more than 70 facilities that range from courts to office buildings, health care to correctional facilities, libraries and recreational facilities to museums, according to Waters.
“Brad has substantial experience, both in engineering and facilities management, and we know he is up to the task,” Waters said.
Reinhardt received his bachelors of science in mechanical engineering from Kansas State University and his master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Kansas. A long-time resident of Johnson County, Reinhardt is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers.
